We Demand An End To All Litter On Pensacola Beach !
The Issue
PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR BEACH
In order to stem the tide of this growing issue this petition proposes the following:
- 1. Implement a media campaign to inform everyone of the importance of keeping our beach clean. This should include but not be limited to, No Littering Signs with stated fines.
- 2. Increase fines for littering with a strict no tolerance policy.
- 3. Increase available trash receptacles with improved emptying frequency.
The pristine, sugar white sands of Pensacola Beach are rapidly being destroyed. Our beach has survived the onslaughts of hurricanes, erosion, and BP oil spills; but will not survive the growing threat that it endures now on a daily basis. Litter!! There is a marked increase in discarded items on our beach left behind by the very people who come to enjoy its beauty. The insurgence of discarded items consists mainly of non-biodegradables ranging from plastic straws to fully assembled tents. There is no regard to its impact on the beauty of our beach or the potential harm to the surrounding wildlife. Pensacola Beach provides a huge source of enjoyment for our community, a significant economic benefit, as well as a habitat for coastal wildlife. Something has to change people’s sense of responsibility in maintaining our beautiful beach. Please help by signing this petition. This is a start! We thank you ! please like our page :
