Ali from Cairo is a 0/1 creature for 2RR, reading “While Ali is in play, damage that would reduce you to less than 1 life lowers you to 1 life. All further damage is prevented”(oracle: Damage that would reduce your life total to less than 1 reduces it to 1 instead.”). It is illustrated by Mark Poole, and was released in 1993 with the Arabian Nights expansion. Legends, the set introducing legendary creatures, was released a year later, in ‘94. And while all unique and significant characters from then on were printed as “Legend” or “Legendary”, Ali was left in the dust, not even getting to keep his unique type line(Summon Ali from Cairo, later errata’d to Creature - Human). I mean, to think that such a signifiant character as Ali would be treated worse than obscure and irrelevant characters like Jace Beleren and Chandra Nalaar is simply an outrage. And the new rules for legends since the 90s make this all the worse. Multiple Alis on the battlefield? Ali can’t be your commander? This issue has been drawn out for far too long. But we can change that- simply sign this petition and share it with someone else, and we can band together to show Wizards what neglecting their best character costs! Make Ali from Cairo Legendary!
