We are Parents and Community Stakeholders of Warren Lane Elementary School in Inglewood California. This is a small neighborhood school with predominantly African American and Latino Students. Dr. Erika Torres, Inglewood Unified Schools Superintendent, sent an email to parents June 9, 2020 stating that our beloved school would be closed permanently, effective June 30, 2020 - neither the parents nor the community were given prior notice. Warren Lane Elementary School has been a staple in this community since 1965. Many generations have attended this institution and are still do today.

Our Children have already been subjected to many traumatic events this year, including the coronavirus pandemic and protests around the Globe of the racism, and ill treatment towards Black people. Now, Dr. Torres seeks to uproot our children from their school, friends, parents, teachers, and other faculty that many of them have known for years and drop them into an unfamiliar environment. Dr. Torres who is also qualified as a SOCIAL WORKER, has failed to acknowledge the stress and mental health concerns that our young children are currently facing.
