The curfew initiated in Marion county during times of racial injustice is in fact an inhibitor of systems of oppression and racism as well. It also places a divide on the city. There have been many statements expressed in the United States that have recognized these systems of injustice however, still having this curfew implements injustice. The curfew also allows more leeway for police brutality because the notion behind it is citizens are “breaking the law”. Also, this curfew in fact can be a public health crisis with people in need of access to various resources, this curfew also prompts many businesses to shut down earlier. The Marion county area as I’m sure you know is already a place where food deserts are in place and once again systematic oppression is in place. If people are getting off of work, they may not be able to make it to the store in time to even feed their families. Also, with the state of the economy which has been a major concern the curfew also decreases economic flow into businesses that help to stimulate the economy. The curfew must end for the health and safety of all.
