We need your help! Stop fast-tracked housing development from encroaching on the WATTS TOWERS (National Historic Monument, California State Park, the ONLY world-renowned tourist site in Watts), and splitting the Watts community in two! The City must follow through with its unfulfilled promise for the WATTS CULTURAL CRESCENT PROJECT instead. Our 15th District has the highest air pollution in the City--too much asphalt and very little green space for people to breathe. The Watts Towers turn 100 years old this year and visionary immigrant artist, Simon (Sabato) Rodia, intended for them to be viewed by train passengers. People from all over the world love the Watts Towers, and the State and community intend to have them designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. A proposed housing complex will jeopardize the view, access to this monument and campus, and therefore the UNESCO candidacy! Help us STOP the DEAL!
