Dear Angels Flight Friends and Neighbors,
This week, we stopped by your favorite historic funicular railway to check on the progress of the restoration work.
We found the station house, arch and one of the railcars glowing a brilliant, ghostly white, with a primer coat applied before repainting. Along the staircase leading up to Bunker Hill, the metal railings are glistening black.
You can see our photos here:

And starting on Monday, the Downtown News reports that work will begin on the emergency evacuation stairway that is a condition of Angels Flight’s Labor Day return to service.
So save the happy date, 9/4/2017, and stay tuned for more Angels Flight updates as we have them.
If you’d like to visit Angels Flight before the work is done, why not join us for the LAVA Sunday Salon and walking tour on July 30, when Bunker Hill native son Gordon Pattison talks about his lost Victorian neighborhood and Angels Flight’s predecessor, the Second Street Cable Car? The event is free with RSVP from http://www.lavatransforms.org/salon717
