While it's not a statue, it was announced that the very bench in Pierre's last public post will be memorialized with a plaque and dedicated this spring in Rittenhouse Square. Special thanks to The Friends of Rittenhouse Square and everyone else involved for making this happen!! Gratitude also goes out to all of you who signed this petition to honor Pierre. He was an amazing person and will be remembered as such!!

"Join us in celebrating and honoring the life of Pierre Robert, the beloved and charismatic WMMR DJ who inspired generations over the course of his 44 year career.

Rittenhouse Square was Pierre Robert’s favorite place in the city. It was where he read, reflected, people-watched, and felt most at peace. Rittenhouse Square is also where he launched his career at WMMR. The studio was at 19th and Walnut. He was often seen sitting on the window sill on the third floor studio overlooking the square as he did his midday show.

Just days before his passing, Pierre spent his final Sunday sitting on a bench, sharing this reflection on Instagram: “Sunday afternoon in Philly in my beloved Rittenhouse Square, with a great book, a cup of La Colombe, watching the world lazily drift by… pretty close to perfection!”

Now, we have the opportunity to create a lasting memorial to this extraordinary voice of Philadelphia. Pierre’s voice was part of the daily rhythm of life, a steady thread that connected music lovers across neighborhoods and generations. His warmth, musical knowledge and unmistakable enthusiasm helped shape WMMR’s identity and Philadelphia’s rock community for more than four decades.

Please join us in honoring his memory with a tribute in Rittenhouse Square. A bench in the square is a fitting, intimate tribute, one that invites one to pause, sit, and enjoy the simple moments Pierre treasured. It honors not only his legacy, but the way he lived.

Donations will go directly toward the care and preservation of this beautiful park that continues to inspire thousands each day. A portion of proceeds will further honor Pierre's legacy, and be sent to Mural Arts Philadelphia for the creation of a mural in his honor." -FORS
