Erect a Golden Statue of CMAT at the former fountain in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre
The Issue
Lads, we've been losing third spaces for years and the removal of Blanchardstown Shopping Centre's fountain was another blow to enjoyers of throwing coins in to water and Shopping Centre interior design enthusiasts everywhere. The fountain may be gone, but it should never be forgotten. The solution is simple: let's erect a golden statue of CMAT (Blanchardstown SC's most famous former employee) to mark where they both once stood.
We've all seen international pop star CMAT's Euro-Country music video, and we all know if the fountain was still in Blanch that's where she would have been splashing about (No hate to Omni, you're not the step-shopping centre you're the shopping centre who stepped up). You might be asking why a golden idol to a pop idol is the answer to the destruction of a cultural landmark which is a completely fair question to ask. Before she was CMAT, she was Ciara Mary Alice Thompson, a humble Debenhams perfume counter girl. Working class to Glastonbury stage, that's the Irish Dream and the sort of person we should be enshrining both in our country's legacy and precious metals. A golden statue would add "Meath's Own Molly Malone" CMAT's ever growing list of epithets which is a bonus. Not to mention what a tourist attraction it would be! This is a no brainer for Blanch's management but Fingal County Council should get in on it too, support local artist and international popstars! Bring back whimsy to monuments to captialism!
(If you're reading this far into this silly petition you might consider giving a donation to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. Thank you!)
