Eradicate Homework in Lee's Summit Schools

Eradicate Homework in Lee's Summit Schools
The Issue
As a student at one of Lee's Summit's schools, I find myself overwhelmed and exhausted with the ceaseless cycle of homework. After a full day in school, delving into complex concepts and engaging in continuous learning, the last thing my fellow students and I want to endure is additional homework. We believe that school timings reserve ample time for studying and academic activities. That time after school should be used for relaxation, family time, interacting with friends, and engaging in activities that contribute to our holistic growth.
However, we find ourselves laden with the burden of homework, affecting not just our mental health but our physical health as well. Stress, headaches, stomach problems are just some of the health issues we face due to this unending cycle of after-school work. Even though our schools have excellent counseling staff, it seems unnecessary when the root cause - excessive homework - remains unresolved.
It's also important to note that research shows that homework has barely any impact on leaning outcome. According to a study by Stanford University, the positive correlation between homework and achievement virtually disappears when controlling for other variables such as teacher quality, while excessive homework can lead to sleep deprivation, unhealthy behaviors, and family stress.
We urge the administrative board of Lee's Summit schools to re-evaluate and end the practice of assigning excessive homework to its students. Sign this petition to support a healthier, stress-free learning environment for all students. So if you agree sign this petition.
