I speak from a deeply personal place, haunted by the tragic attack on a Jewish synagogue in Melbourne. This incident demonstrated the malicious prejudice that exists in our society and left me deeply worried for the future of Jewish individuals and those with intellectual disabilities.

Anti-Semitism is not just a threat to Jewish people, but it represents a grave violation of the rights and dignity of all Australians. It is an issue that must be urgently addressed. Anti-Semitic incidents in Australia have been on a rising trend, with the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) reporting a 30% increase in incidents from 2018 to 2019.

We have to respond. We have to stand as a united front against such hatred and bigotry. Every Australian deserves to live without fear of persecution or discrimination, regardless of ethnicity or mental ability.
I hate Anti-Semitism, just as much as everybody else does and I think that’s it’s time to get rid off these people who use Anti-Semitism and create a better life in Australia the one we all dream of living in now 
So Join me in urging the Australian government to legislate more powerful anti-hate laws, and to fund education programs promoting acceptance and understanding of our diverse society. It is time we say an unequivocal 'no' to Anti-Semitism or any form of hatred.
