The 2017 Equifax breach left 148 million people exposed to possible scams, fraud, and identity theft. Since then, Congress passed legislation, effective September 21, 2018, that will remove the fee associated with placing and lifting a credit freeze. If you were a victim of this breach, we also invite you to take part in our quick 5-minute survey. Your participation will give us a better understanding of how data breaches affect consumers, and it will also help us to enhance our free victim services.

A year later and there are still plenty of actionable steps that you can take to safeguard you information. If you have further questions about what you can do to protect yourself, contact the Identity Theft Resource Center toll-free at 888-400-5530 or www.idtheftcenter.org
