The Issue
To Epic Games and the Fortnite Development Team,
We, the undersigned fans, respectfully call on you to honor the legacy of Ghostbusters by introducing the original Ghostbusters team—Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore—alongside the iconic Ecto-1, as cosmetic items in Fortnite.
Since 1984, Ghostbusters has inspired generations of fans and creators across media, embodying a unique blend of humor, adventure, and supernatural charm. With the franchise enjoying a resurgence across various platforms, it is clear that Ghostbusters still holds relevance and resonates with audiences today.
Yet, despite its enduring popularity, Fortnite has yet to give this series the treatment it deserves. While Ghostbusters did receive a Halloween-themed cosmetic set in 2020, it was incomplete—featuring only generic avatars in Ghostbusters uniforms. What fans have been waiting for, however, is to see the original Ghostbusters brought into Fortnite properly, just as the game has done for Star Wars, Marvel, DC Comics, and many other beloved franchises.
Why This Matters
Fair Representation: Other legacy franchises, such as Star Wars and Terminator, have received significant crossovers in Fortnite. Ghostbusters deserves the same respect.
Existing Collaborations: Ghostbusters is featured in Fall Guys and other platforms owned by Epic Games, proving that the licensing hurdles are surmountable.
Cultural Impact: Just as the MCU’s Iron Man or Star Wars' Luke Skywalker shaped generations, Ghostbusters has had a lasting influence on fans, storytelling, and pop culture.
Ecto-1's Significance: The Ecto-1 is as iconic to Ghostbusters as the Batmobile is to Batman. It would be a fitting addition as a Fortnite vehicle cosmetic, driving nostalgia and excitement for players. Its model also exists in Rocket League, where many of Fortnite's vehicle cosmetics are pulled from to begin with due to the cross-compatibility updated introduced to both games in December 2023.
Our Requests
We respectfully ask for:
Playable skins for Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore.
The Ecto-1 as a vehicle cosmetic.
A Ghostbusters-themed event or collaboration, in the spirit of Halloween, Ghostbusters Day, or as a limited-time game mode.
Epic Games, this is not just a request—it’s a plea for respect. Fans have shown their patience, but it’s disheartening to see so many franchises receive multiple collaborations while Ghostbusters remains overlooked and underappreciated.
We urge you to bring these beloved characters and the Ecto-1 to Fortnite and allow fans, both old and new, to celebrate a series that has meant so much to so many for 40 years. We are confident that this collaboration will be both successful and well-received by the community.
