Stop the Production of PVC, a harmful plastic in America.

The Issue

PVC is a manmade plastic (#3) that can be found in shower curtains, school binders, bath toys, drinking straws, raincoats, and yoga mats. It is a plastic that cannot be recycled without causing harm and will pollute our planet forever if we don't take action to stop it's production. Even worse, if it is thrown away and becomes incinerated, it will release harmful chemicals to the air.

PVC is made up of many chemicals, some of which are used to package our foods. These chemicals end up rubbing off on to our foods between packaging and storing and are proven to cause liver tumors, kidney problems, and cancer. This chemical is a phthalate which many companies have already made the move to remove from their products.

Over 33 million tons of PVC is being produced each year and that figure is increasing annually. Only 1% of that number is being recycled due to it's contaminants and hazardous chemical releasing factors. I believe we can do better and I believe we can find alternatives to PVC by using glass shower doors instead of PVC shower curtains, paper folders or bamboo made binders instead of plastic binders, using umbrellas and hats instead of raincoats, and many other options.

Sign this petition so that our children and the children of our children can live better, happy, healthy, and clean lives on this beautiful planet.
