Ensure write-in candidacy in all states and territories

The Issue

I am embarking on the momentous journey of running for President of the United States to be elected in 2028. Yet, as I take this bold step, I am confronted with an unexpected barrier: the inability to run as a write-in candidate in some states and territories. This challenge not only hampers my campaign but also affects the democratic process by restricting voters' ability to choose candidates who are not on the ballot.

In many states, the opportunity to run as a write-in candidate is limited by rigorous laws and regulations. For example, write-in candidacies for presidential elections require loyalty oaths and various filings by a certain deadline, restraining the democratic spirit this nation was built upon. As of 2020, nine states did not even allow write-in voting for presidential candidates at all. This creates a barrier for potential candidates and limits voters' rights to support someone who might best represent their interests and values.

Real voter choice is foundational to a thriving democracy. When write-in options are restricted, we undermine the very principles that uphold our democratic system. Candidates who wish to serve should not be inhibited by procedural and bureaucratic challenges that do not equally serve all individuals dedicated to serving the nation.

We can take action to correct this imbalance and reinvigorate our commitment to a transparent and inclusive democratic process. It is crucial we urge policymakers across all fifty states and U.S. territories to revise these restrictive laws. By allowing write-in candidates for presidential and vice-presidential elections, we can ensure a fairer, more representative electoral system.

This issue surpasses individual ambitions; it's about preserving choice, promoting fairness, and upholding the integrity of our democratic process. I invite you to join me in calling on our state legislators to eliminate these barriers for write-in candidates. Together, we can make sure that every voice has a chance to be heard and that our elections reflect the true will of the people.

Sign this petition to support the right for all qualified individuals to run as write-in candidates and to enhance the democratic choices available to voters in every state and territory. Join me in this pursuit of a more inclusive democratic process.
