Firstly, once again, thank you all SO SO much!! Our petition currently sits at just over 1300 signatures, which is an amazing effort given it was only created on Sunday afternoon!!! Each and every one of you guys are heroes for speaking up on this, let’s continue to share the petition far and wide.

In the meantime the Council have responded to our cause. On Wednesday 12th November, it was reported that Culture and Communities Convener, Councillor Margaret Graham, said: "Remembrance Day is an important opportunity to honour those who served and sacrificed so much, and I understand how necessary it is to have a quiet moment to reflect.

“I’m aware of issues caused by traffic during the service and had contacted officers ahead of the event to make sure traffic was stopped for an appropriate amount of time.

“We’ll also be holding a debrief with the organisers and partner agencies and I’ll ensure that these views are fed into this discussion and considered ahead of next year’s event.”*

The Council HAVE noticed us and ARE listening to us. Let’s ensure our voice is as loud as can possibly be on this issue…

*Councillor Margaret Grahams comments were originally published on The Hearts Standard website on Wednesday 12th November. Thanks to them for allowing me to reproduce them here.
