I, a concerned resident of Alfred, NY, am writing this petition to address the urgent need for municipalities to connect and provide clean water to residents within the water department's district in a timely manner. A timely manner being within 3 months. It is essential that local politics and bribery are not considered when it comes to ensuring access to this basic necessity. Furthermore, the local water department should not be allowed to seize existing property for their future use in exchange for providing this utility.

As a personal testament, I bought a house in Alfred last year with hopes of finding a safe and comfortable home. However, we have been facing immense hardships and are homeless due to the lack of access to clean water. We applied for connection to an existing waterline eight months ago but have been met with nothing but delays and excuses.

This issue has become a frustrating battle with both the village mayor and town supervisor who seem more interested in playing political games than addressing our urgent needs. They were elected by us, the residents they represent, yet they refuse to take action simply because I am not their direct constituent or because they do not want any controversy.

It is disheartening that these elected officials choose to ignore New York State's clean water bill which was implemented precisely for situations like ours. This bill should serve as a guiding principle in ensuring every resident has access to potable water without unnecessary delays or obstacles.

Therefore, I urge you all fellow residents of Alfred, NY - regardless of your current situation - join me in signing this petition demanding:

1. Municipalities within the water department's district must prioritize connecting residents' homes with clean drinking water promptly.
