NMC Nurses and Midwives condemmed

I've had quite a few roles in my 25+year career. It's true to say that many of the management roles I have had had finished on a low point - mainly because I question, put my team and my patients first above business or corporate needs - invariably that is not the popular stance!!

One such role was for a independant service provider, working in partnership with a large NHS Trust. We set up a unique service which was highly popular, until the company was taken over by an even larger private provider, whom the Trust has specifically not chosen to run their service!!!

Politics and purpose collided and I moved on

One of the saddest moments of my career when I had to say goodbye to the team I had nurtured and seen grow - feeling I had let them down, that it was my failure, when in fact now I realise "It's just business" .

I kept in touch with a few - most lost touch over time but one of my stars of the team stayed with me, occasionally we would catch up but recently have started working together again.

Funny old life but it is true - things do happen for a reason....
