My husband and I made public comments last night at the District 103 Board Meeting. In addition to speaking, the school board was given a flyer including the image seen on this update. (All ORANGE school districts have K-8 SROs and/or a dedicated Director of Safety & Security. I personally contacted other Lake County school districts and police departments to confirm SRO staffing.) School Safety was on the agenda, and Dr. Warren (D103 superintendent) had a presentation on the district's safety measures, and some comments on this petition. In summary, the school board and Dr. Warren feel that the existing safety measures, existing staffing, and existing programming in District 103 are sufficient. Considering existing measures and the school's proximity to the Lincolnshire Police Department, the group felt that a School Resource Officer at District 103 was not a justifiable expense at this time.
I think all who signed this petition will agree that allocating funds for the safety of our children is always money well spent. Let's continue to spread the word and gather more support for this important cause.
