Ensure Safety and Dignity for Indian Communities in Ireland

Ensure Safety and Dignity for Indian Communities in Ireland
The Issue
Ensure Safety for Indians and Minorities in Ireland – Act Now
Ireland has long been a country that welcomes people from all walks of life — a place known for warmth, hospitality, and respect. But recently, that sense of safety has been shaken for many members of the Indian community living in Waterford and across Ireland.
In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a disturbing rise in racially motivated incidents, including:
Verbal abuse in public spaces
Physical intimidation and attacks
Targeted harassment of Indian students and workers
Acts of vandalism near homes of minority families
These are not isolated incidents — they reflect a growing trend that threatens the values of inclusion and mutual respect that Ireland proudly upholds.
It is important to remember that Indians in Ireland are legal immigrants, most of whom have come here through proper work or study channels. Over 90% of Indian immigrants are employed in the healthcare sector — working in hospitals, nursing homes, and care facilities, serving and supporting Irish families every single day.
Despite their significant contributions, many now live in fear — afraid to walk alone, speak their language in public, or let their children play outside. This is not the Ireland we know and love.
We, members of the Indian community in Ireland — students, families, professionals, and workers — are deeply concerned for our safety and dignity. We are simply asking to live in peace — to send our kids to school, walk to the shop, or take the bus without fear.
That’s why we are calling on:
An Garda Síochána to increase patrols and visibility in minority-populated areas
The Department of Justice to fast-track investigations of hate crimes
Local authorities to launch awareness campaigns promoting inclusion
Elected representatives to publicly condemn these incidents and stand with us
We believe in lawful, peaceful solutions. We are proud to be part of Irish society and want to continue contributing to its progress. But we also want to be safe, respected, and protected like everyone else.
Please stand with us. Sign this petition and show that racism has no home here.
