Ensure safe school transportation for Taj Mahal Apartments students
The Issue
Let's talk about a real issue affecting our community in Fort Worth. For parents living in the Taj Mahal Apartments, there's a persistent worry: our kids have to trek to school at an ungodly hour, putting their safety at risk. Imagine this: setting out at 6:40 AM, navigating in the dark, and crossing three major streets just to get to school by 7:05 AM. It's an anxious path for young children, with dangers lurking at every corner, especially at that hour.
The problem stems from the lack of safe and reliable school transportation options provided by the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) for our area. Without a dedicated school bus service, our kids are left with few choices: either walk unsafely in dim light or navigate unreliable public transport and cross busy roads like Hulen. As parents, we want more for them. We want assurance that their journey to and from school is secure, without the fear of traffic hazards or being alone in the early hours.
Our request is simple: FWISD should allocate resources to establish a school bus route specifically serving Taj Mahal Apartments students. This is not much to ask when the safety of children is at stake. Implementing this solution will not only ensure our kids arrive safely but also support their right to access education without added stress or danger. Importantly, it's a feasible plan. By coordinating with local transportation services and adjusting existing routes, a sustainable and efficient school bus service can be set up quickly.
This situation isn't new, and it's high time it was addressed. Other areas have benefitted from similar adjustments, and it's only fair for our children to have the same opportunities for a safe commute. Let's stand together to urge FWISD to prioritize the safety of all students. Sign this petition to advocate for immediate action to secure healthy and safe school transportation for the students of Taj Mahal Apartments.
