Many people with disabilities still encounter significant barriers when trying to purchase accessible tickets. As someone who values independence and equal access for all, I've experienced firsthand how current systems in place are letting down those who need them most.

A major issue is the lack of verification at venues, which results in accessible seating being occupied by non-disabled individuals. This not only deprives people with disabilities of rightful access but also greatly strains their ability to enjoy events as others do. Additionally, the convenience of online booking is often replaced by lengthy phone calls, making an already challenging process even more daunting.

Moreover, the repeated misuse of disability seating and inconsistent policies for companion tickets add an unnecessary financial burden to those with disabilities. These barriers disrupt our independence and limit our opportunities to participate in cultural, sporting, and entertainment events like anyone else.

To tackle these issues, I call upon theatres, stadiums, arenas, concert venues, and ticketing companies to take definitive action. We propose the standard acceptance of the Access 2 Card as a means of accessibility verification, ensuring that only those who truly require accessible seating can reserve it. Moreover, companion tickets should be offered without additional charge during both online and in-person ticket purchasing, providing essential support without financial strain.

Removing these barriers will not only foster a more inclusive environment but actively promote the rights and dignity of people with disabilities. By implementing these changes, venues and ticketing companies can not only comply with equality mandates but demonstrate a commitment to an inclusive future.
