You might remember that some very big plans are coming to Edgware from the owners of the shopping centre, car park, and bus depot.  They were delayed to make sure it is safe to put a new electric bus depot underground.

The plans will be approved at a big planning committee meeting, which you are encouraged to watch in person or online.  For those that can make it in person, please arrive early at Hendon Town Hall.  There is likely to be a peaceful demonstration at 6pm.  To get the best seats, you must wait in the lobby and then go up to the public gallery, for 6.45 p.m.

Some people are hard-of-hearing so it is vital to behave in an inclusive way.  Please do not clap or cheer when representatives speak or even applaud them after, as this disrupts the meeting for those who use hearing aids.

Last week's meeting went on until 10 p.m. so please stay for as long as you can, but do not feel any pressure because if you show up for the opening comments that is the most important thing.

This is the outline and a second big application will come with detail, so the decision is about the height of the buildings and how many affordable and non affordable homes it will provide, the bus depot and bus stops, as well as opening up the nature reserve to the public.  Though the planning committee are voting in favour, this is on conditions of a Section 106 agreement with the Council, which will pay for various needs of the community.  The large development will change Burnt Oak's sky-line (view of the fly tipping) and change our area massively with a long term development that is designed for the next 100 years.  The decision also effects those that back onto the wooded area because it will be a new park managed by the Council.  For those to the East of Burnt Oak and Edgware, you will get a new right of way which will include benches for those less able to carry their shopping for long periods.  It will impact our green spaces and also our access to green spaces.  It will also effect the Edgware School, providing new playable space.
