A direct quote from the President of Cassowary Coast Paws and Claws Inc to me on friday is that "as soon as we clean up the yard and make it presentable, we will advertise for a caretaker". 

This is not acceptable!

The shelter manager has been in the position since March 2024. Why are the premises still not presentable?

Why hasn't Cassowary Coast Paws and Claws Inc taken steps to find another, suitably qualified "caretaker" before terminating the current manager so as to ensure a full and proper handover and continuation of care?

I provided the details of another rescue organisation to the Cassowary Coast Paws and Claws Inc President last week!! I can confirm that no steps were made by Cassowary Coast Paws and Claws Inc to contact this organisation for assistance prior to terminating the shelter manger, or finding a replacement "caretaker".

Three puppies died as a result of a break in the continuation of trained, professional care during the handover of the shelter in March 2024. How can Cassowary Coast Paws and Claws Inc believe that they "will and would never put the animals into an unhealthy situation" when they have again, left the animals in the care of persons without having the appropriate training?

What more information does Cassowary Coast Regional Council need before they step up and manage this situation? There are other organisations who are ready and waiting to help!!
