Ensure Access to View Deceased Loved Ones Regardless of Financial Capability

Ensure Access to View Deceased Loved Ones Regardless of Financial Capability
The Issue
My mother and my beautiful niece passed away, an unimaginable blow to our family. Heartbreak turned into frustration when I was denied the option to view them because the state was covering the cremation costs - a scenario that, sadly, is all too common for many families in our society.
Every year, thousands of individuals lose their loved ones, and, in their moment of grief, find themselves unable to pay for the expensive cost of a funeral. This painful predicament often leads to the state taking charge of the cremation process, during which, the right to view the deceased before cremation is often denied to the bereaved. This practice stands in the clear violation of our innate human need for closure and acceptance.
We live in a society that values equal treatment to all, and this should extend to such delicate matters too. No one should be denied their last chance to say goodbye to their loved ones because of their financial circumstances. Policies need to be revised to ensure that the grief-stricken are no longer denied this critical element of closure due to monetary limitations.
Sign this petition to urge our lawmakers to amend the policies and practices related to state-handled cremations. It is imperative that families are allowed the option to view their deceased loved ones regardless of financial ability. It's time we recognize this as a universal human right. Please, sign this petition and help towards a society where love and remembering surpasses financial constraints.
