Response from council in summary - there will be extra restrictions (Sunday morning and 30 mins on weekdays) and that’s it.

It’s clear the council have no idea as to the issues in these roads or, more likely, don’t care. Full response below.

Dear Phil,

Thank you for your email and the petition for introducing 24/7 parking restriction on three locations: Albion Way, Bonfield Road and Mercia Grove.

We apologies for the delay in this response.

We fully sympathise with the severity of parking stress residents experience now. To alleviate this pressure, the Council proposed its plan to expand the CPZ operational times in Lewisham Central under the Sustainable Street Programme.

You may already be aware, the Council has recently completed a consultation in Lewisham Central under the Sustainable Street programme. Following the consultation results, the Council has advertised an amendment to the Traffic Management Order (TMO) converting the existing CPZ into two zones: Lewisham central (B1) and Lewisham Central Southern (B2). The split was to enable the Council to expand the operation days/ hours of B2 from 9am–6.30pmMonday-Saturday to 9am-7pm Monday-Saturday and 9am-1.30pm on Sundays. The Council is aiming to complete the final stage to implement and adopt the expansion of the CPZ B2 from April/ May 2025 (weather permitting).

Whilst we hope that this will remedy the parking pressure on the three locations, the Council’s Sustainable Street team will carry out a 6-month review of the new CPZ B2. This will include a public consultation inviting residents and businesses to provide feedback of B2 introduction. If at this stage (end of 2025) there is support for further increase in CPZ operational times, the Council will consider the application of micro-cluster Sustainable Street measures exclusively on three locations.

We thank you for your continued support for the Sustainable Streets programme. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Sustainable Streets Team
