I was asked to fill out a “legacy“ application, could they follow procedure could they be unbiased? 

It would be a lie if i said I don’t miss the rink I grew up at, that my children grew up at. I knew…. Hoped in my heart things could change. I myself was working for change in this organization. Every step I was always shut down. I loved this rink, I loved this organization, I loved the people. 

My younger son wanted to play there. I was asked if I could behave…. Yes obviously I could. I followed all the proper steps, the proper procedure. I was not aware that letting the board know of abuse within their organization was not behaving. Looking the other way and falling in line apparently was behaving. 

I filled out the applications, answering the question and keeping my mouth shut on the awful way my son was treated, my family was treated. Even with 20+ years in this organization my children playing for 8 going on 9 years. Although the president promised unbiased, It was a lie. She fooled so many, but I knew by the phone calls and some awful things that were said this was not true. 

Denied 

They were denied, not because they didn’t fall under the legacy criteria. Not because they were trouble makers. But because their mother stood up and fought all the children in the organization not just mine. 

I was told only 9 out of district kids applied, and only one was taken. I knew right away that was a lie. There is 12+ out of district players, some not fitting the criteria. Apparently what I should have said

While this is our experience at what you called to small to deal with this is a HUGE problem that you need to start addressing, holding organizations accountable, holding the board members accountable, the safe sport and player safety coordinators accountable, and the coaches. Coaches who abuse children or ignore abuse of children they should NOT  be allowed to coach. You have a code of conduct for what reason?
