Twice we wrote to the RIU Hotels & Resorts asking for an explanation why RIU Hotels in Mexico cooperated so well with animal welfare during spay & neuter campaigns in 2013 whereas the 6 RIU Hotels in Punta Cana that receive the petition since 2014 continue to ignore us. Finally RIU answered: "We acknowledge receipt of your complaint with the reference number quoted above. In order to process it correctly, we would ask you to fill in the form by clicking here.". The click leads to the site for complaints made by RIU customers: http://www.riu.com/es/formularioReclamaciones/?idPeticion=e7db1cf6-72cf-9593-b1f5-57f4c57012b6# There name and data of the guest have to be filled in, the RIU Class number and booking information. Otherwise the "inicident" can't / won't be dealt with. In the space "Describe the incident" stands already the text of the last 2 news published about RIU. Our request to you: Is there among the almost 32.300 supporters of the petition somebody who has ever stayed in any of the RIU Hotels and would be in the possession of the information asked in the form and willing to fill it in and send it with the text püblished in the last 2 news? So that RIU finally has to make a statement! End of October the very vets that had such a pleasant experience with RIU in Mexico arrive in Punta Cana for a spay & neuter campaign! Here once more the text that should be sent: 5. OKT. 2016 — On 09/23/ 2016 we informed the RIU Group that despite the participation of RIU Hotels in Mexico in spay & neuter campaigns of CANDI INTERNATIONAL in 2013 not one of the half a dozen RIU Hotels in Punta Cana cooperates with the local animal welfare group RescátaMe . The only answer we got was the automatic reply of the RIU Hotel Palace Macao: "Dear Sir or Madam, We will be closed for renovations at the hotel from Sep 1st to Nov 12th 2016. Happy to return we will be answering your emails. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Best Regards, Management Palace Macao" That throws a sad light on the sincerity of RIU's sustainability policy and suggests that animal-loving tourists visiting Punta Cana are perhaps better off choosing one of the 22 Hotels listed in our Hotel guide "Animal-friendly Hotels in the Caribbean" under http://www.kreolischerhund.de/Hotels.en.php#PuntaCana Our deeply felt gratitude to anyone who would assist us with this!
