The RUI Hotels & and Resorts and their Sustainability Policy

The RIU group engages in sustainability and social issues as impressively shown on their site http://www.riu.com/en/sustainability/home.jsp Moreover, the RIU group was one of the first touristic enterprises to realize that not only the protection of wildlife and environment but also the care for a humane management of stray companion animal populations as they exist at most southern holiday destinations belong to the responsibilities of a modern, progressive, conscious and sustainable tourism industry. In Mexico Riu Hotels and Resorts have partnered with CANDi International in spay and neuter of dogs and cats and helped with accommodation for volunteering veterinarians and their support staff. In Mexico Riu Hotels also maintain stray cat facilities ( Cat Cafés) at several of their properties, for example in Playa del Carmen. Why don’t do the RIU Hotels and Resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic , the same thing? Six RIU Hotels, the Riu Palace Bavaro, the Riu Palace Punta Cana, the Clubhotel Riu Bambu, the Riu Palace Macao, the RIU Naiboa and the RIU Republica receive our petition https://www.change.org/p/no-more-poisoned-and-abused-dogs-and-cats-at-hotels-beaches-and-in-communities-of-the-caribbean where we ask hotels for their cooperation with our local partner RescátaMe, offering spay and neuter of stray animals, further care for the animals in cooperation with local animal welfare organizations by maintaining feeding places and providing medical care, ever since the terrible poisoning of 40 dogs at Bavaro Uvero Alto in September 2014 witnessed by the British author Alfred Fox / http://hubpages.com/politics/Beach-Dogs-in-the-Dominican-Republic 22 hotels cooperate by now with animal welfare in Punta Cana and were added to the hotel guide Animal-friendly hotels in the Caribbean / http://kreolischerhund.de/Hotels.en.php where you will find meanwhile 65 hotels on 14 islands. No RIU Hotel is among them. We are asking: WHY? A big spay and neuter campaign lies directly ahead in Punta Cana in October with the vets of Caribe Spay Neuter many of whom experienced the animal kindness of RIU Hotels and Resorts already in Mexico as members of CANDI International. What will their Impression be of the representatives of the RIU Group in Punta Cana? We are waiting for an answer!
