As a concerned citizen, I am deeply troubled by the history of politicians engaging in insider trading without being held accountable. This practice erodes the core elements of our democracy; when politicians are voting based on where they can receive the most money how can they truly represent their constituents?

The issue at hand is not just about individual ethics but about systemic integrity. A 2011 study from Georgia State University found that U.S Senators' stock portfolios outperformed the market by an average of 12% per year, suggesting potential misuse of privileged information (Georgia State University, 2011). This is unacceptable.

We need to enforce, and show national support for the Ban Stock Trading for Government Officials Act and require all Congressmen actively on the floor to be banned from stock trading. By doing so, we can ensure that our elected officials are focused solely on serving their constituents and upholding democratic values, to not let our representatives be blinded with greed.
