Enforce Stricter Laws on Vehicle Noise Pollution

The Issue

I am personally affected by the issue of excessive noise pollution from vehicles. This is not just a nuisance, but a form of harassment and intimidation that has been used against me due to my disabilities. It's time for us to address this issue head-on and advocate for stricter laws on vehicle noise pollution.

Many individuals modify their vehicles, including motorbikes, off-road vehicles, sports cars, and even ordinary cars to make them louder. This results in unnecessary noise and disturbance which can have detrimental effects on mental health and overall well-being of those living in such conditions. Moreover, this is often used as an intimidation tactic against people or entire communities.

I propose that modifications aimed at increasing vehicle noise should be classified as illegal activities punishable by law. Newer cars should be designed with quieter engines while older models with loud engines should be phased out or modified to meet acceptable noise levels.

This change will not only curb antisocial behavior but also contribute significantly towards reducing noise pollution - a problem that has been largely overlooked despite its serious implications for public health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), traffic-related noise could cost EU citizens up to 1.6 million healthy years of life annually due to annoyance and sleep disturbance alone.

By making it illegal for vehicles' revs to be heard distinctly from a certain distance away, we can ensure peace within our communities while safeguarding the mental health of vulnerable individuals who are disproportionately affected by such disturbances.

Let's take action now! Sign this petition if you believe in creating quieter streets for everyone's benefit.
