The Issue

For those of us living in Nailsea, Mizzymead Road has become a dangerous and congested nightmare, especially during school hours. As a  resident of this bustling area, I've witnessed firsthand the hazards caused by the lack of proper parking regulations. Cars line both sides of Mizzymead Road, creating a chaotic and perilous situation that endangers children exiting the school and causes significant traffic issues.

Since the implementation of parking charges in areas nearby, drivers have resorted to parking along Mizzymead Road, piling up even near the crest of the hill. This congestion severely hampers the flow of transit and public transport vehicles, leaving them struggling to navigate the narrow passage safely. It's alarming to see how a lack of double yellow lines has turned a simple school commute into a daily hazard.

Implementing double yellow lines across the full length of Mizzymead Road on the side where the school is located is not just a corrective measure; it's a necessity for the safety and well-being of our community's children and everyone using this route.

The installation of these lines will immediately dissuade illegal parking and restore the road's safety and order. It will enable smoother passage for buses, lorries and emergency vehicles, ensuring that children can enter and exit their school safely without the lurking threat of reckless street parking.

We need the support of our local council to take action and prioritize the safety and functionality of Mizzymead Road. By signing this petition, you are helping to create a safer environment for children and making a positive change for the entire Nailsea community. Please sign and share this petition to urge our local authorities to install double yellow lines on Mizzymead Road, ensuring a safe passage for all.
