Enforce Coweta County's 200ft Buffer Zoning Ordinance for Athletic Fields

Enforce Coweta County's 200ft Buffer Zoning Ordinance for Athletic Fields
The Issue
As residents of Sharpsburg, GA, USA, our peaceful neighborhoods are under threat. The county is planning to use its government power to change setbacks without a conditional use permit. This isn't just contrary to rules and regulations, but also an infringement on our rights as residents. Zoning, codes, and ordinances should apply equally to individuals and the county.
Our area is one of the most sought places to live in Coweta County due to its tranquility and community spirit. However, this will be forever changed if the proposed athletic park is placed in our backyards. The noise, lighting, and traffic from multi-sport fields will be unreasonably loud and disturbing, interfering with our daily lives and enjoyment of our homes.
We are not against development or sports facilities. What we ask for is respect for Article 7 RC Conservation Section 75 of the zoning ordinance that requires all athletic fields to have a minimum 200 ft from any property line. This rule was put in place precisely to protect residential areas like ours from such intrusive developments.
Unfortunately, our commissioners and county administrators want to interpret Article 6 as a catch all to bypass Article 7. However, by ignoring this ordinance, Coweta County sets a dangerous precedent that could affect other communities as well. It's time we stand up against such actions that disregard established rules meant for public welfare.
Let us remind our Coweta County elected commissioners of their responsibility to strictly adhere with the zoning ordinances they themselves have set forth. Please sign and share this petition urging the Coweta County government to adhere to the 200 ft minimum buffer requirement between adjacent properties and sports fields. Help us preserve the peace in Sharpsburg!
