Enforce consistent dress code rules at HMS

Enforce consistent dress code rules at HMS
The Issue
On August 28, 2025, our school administration implemented an extremely strict and arbitrary dress code enforcement without prior notice. These newly enforced rules disproportionately targeted girls, leading to many being dress coded for wearing clothing such as crop tops or clothing that shows their shoulders, despite having been allowed to wear them in the past. Conversely, boys were largely not penalized for similar attire, highlighting an unfair and gender-biased approach to rule enforcement.
These actions not only promote outdated and sexist ideas but also send a damaging message: that boys are unable to control themselves and that it is the responsibility of girls to alter their appearance as a solution. Such a double standard perpetuates inequality and supports notions that should have no place in our school environment.
HMS should be a place where all students can feel comfortable and focused on learning, without having to worry about unequal treatment based on outdated stereotypes. We demand a transparent, fair, and equally enforced dress code policy, so all students can feel respected and free to express themselves without fear of arbitrary and biased enforcement.
Dress codes should serve to create an environment conducive to learning, not to enforce an outdated status quo. By ensuring consistent and fair enforcement of dress code rules, our administration can foster a more inclusive and respectful atmosphere for all students.
Sign this petition to demand consistent and unbiased enforcement of the dress code at HMS, paving the way for a more fair and equal educational experience for everyone. No Rule; No Violation
