The Issue

GREEN BELT LAND AND WILDLIFE UNDER THREAT

TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!

Thank you for signing this petition

Developers and Enfield Council are proposing to build on Green Belt land on both sides of Enfield Road (EN2 7HX).  The beautiful rolling farmland could be replaced by up to 5,000 homes. Developers and Enfield Council are also targeting the Green Belt at Crews Hill, replacing the famed garden centres and horticulture with over 7,500 homes.  All these homes could be built on brownfield sites preserving the Green Belt, with its multiple benefits, for future generations.

The historic landscape along Enfield Road has been used for arable crops and grazing and provides habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, including hedgehogs, bats, badgers, skylarks, pheasants, owls, woodpeckers and many other species of birds. It also contains beautiful specimens of mature oak trees and ancient hedgerows.

THIS IS ALL NOW UNDER THREAT.  ONCE IT'S GONE, IT'S GONE FOREVER.

Local residents, The Enfield Society, The Western Enfield Residents Association, Campaign for Rural England, The London Green Belt Council, Local Ward Councillors believe that Enfield should retain its Green Belt land and the wildlife that live there. Any threats by developers and our own Local Authority should be fought by local people and those that care about the natural environment.

This land is Green Belt and an Area of Special Character as detailed and confirmed by Enfield Council.

Enfield Road Watch, an action group has been formed to oversee things on behalf of residents and the wider community concerned about these threats, along with the other Societies and Associations mentioned.
