My team and I have dedicated six months of our lives, working tirelessly on our Science Olympiad project at Alta Sierra Intermediate. Our hard work paid off when we placed second in the Fresno County competition, qualifying us for the state competition. We are eager to showcase our talent and dedication at the California state level.

However, despite our achievement and qualification, Alta Sierra Intermediate has not yet committed to taking us to the state competition. This is disheartening for a team that has put so much effort into their work.

Science Olympiad is more than just a competition; it's an opportunity for students like us to explore science beyond textbooks and classrooms. It fosters critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills - all essential skills in today's world.

In 2019 alone, over 7,800 middle school teams across the country participated in Science Olympiads (source: National Science Olympiad Organization). These competitions provide students with invaluable experiences that can shape their future careers and interests.

We urge Alta Sierra Intermediate School administration not only consider our personal achievements but also recognize how participating in such events can positively impact a student's academic journey. Please support us by committing to take our team to the California State Science Olympiad competition.
