As a concerned American who values the freedom of speech protected by our First Amendment, I see a growing imbalance, especially on TikTok, that is preventing us from engaging in open and balanced political discourse. There is a palpable bias seen against conservatives and Republicans where our views are monitored and stifled while opposing views are given a platform without restraint. We not only honor but also thrive on our nation's diversity, including the diversity of thought. A 2020 Media Research Center study reveals that 69% of conservatives believe major tech platforms are intentionally censoring political views that they find objectionable. The rise of such a number is alarming and this imbalance needs to be addressed.

Our plea reaches out to TikTok – a platform embraced by millions, to implement policies that uphold the universal right to freedom of speech, regardless of political leanings. Equally, we call on the White House, an emblem of democracy and free speech, to recognize and address this disconcerting bias. Part of the solution can be achieved through effective and unbiased monitoring of content to ensure that freedom of speech is sustained, not smothered. We ask you, the signatories, to stand up for the principle of free speech by signing this petition. We must make our voices heard, not silenced.
