End The Stigma on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

End The Stigma on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The Issue
2 per 1000 people in the Uk have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome between 150,000 and 250,000. It is a physical, emotional, neurological disease causing mental fatigue, tiredness still after sleep, headaches, dizziness, sore legs, pain and long term recovery after the physical affects are healed the brain takes years to catch up.
Scientifically, research is limited and the causes are mainly unknown but can be an over stressed system which catches a virus infection.
I would like to help others out there to know you arn't alone in this hateful illness. I suffered for 9 and half years from age 12 to 21. I now suffer from anxiety, social anxiety and trying to get back to full functioning life. I would like to get more research on the illness, more awareness and more help for people who are ill. It is a known cause after long co- vid to develop it.
76% of sufferers are female
Peak age of onset 20-40 years old.
86% are unemployed due to the illness. You can develop Chronic Fatigue from Long- covid- it is an uncurable illness with no known cure as of yet. It used to be so stigmatised as it was an invisible illness. No one knew about it. Doctors know little and their knowledge needs to be expanded and the right treatments eventually found. There are some treatments which help elevate symptoms but we need to know of more. Diet and pacing are very important to get better. Cut out coffee, alcohol and sugar. Over exertion causes set backs in the illness.
In 2017 analysis carried out by 2020 Health stated that the total cost of CFS in 2014/5 to the UK economy was at least £3 billion. The sum total accounted for health care cost, productivity losses and unpaid informal care as well as disability related welfare payments. End the Stigma! Learn about Chronic Fatigue!
