"Thanks to its location, the Bay of Boka is partially protected from the pollution in the open sea, yet studies show it still suffers from a high amount of microplastics. “The connection between the water and the open sea is weak, so the pollution that reaches here usually stays here for a very long time,” Macic said. “Sometimes, that pollution skips us.” In general terms, however, Macic cited estimates that, “if we continue like this, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the seas than fish”."
