Friends, the media has taken notice of your efforts and a story will appear in Tuesday’s News-Journal. This is a huge victory for the cause, as it shows the petition is working, spreading the news on social media is working, and elected officials at the City and County will pay even more attention and listen to our concerns. Thank you for all you’ve done to get us here!
The picture above was taken Saturday of a dog outside of the zone, showing the problem still continues and no ‘enforcement’ by the County is going to help. The County has failed in enforcing their own long-standing ordinances against any dogs on the beach and now they’ve really blown it by creating this dog zone in a busy section, which has just provided even more of an entree for dogs and irresponsible owners. The pilot zone must end …. now.
Because of the newspaper story that was posted online earlier today, we have received two calls from other media outlets looking to share our concerns. If you’re willing to do any brief media interviews for the cause, please write us at notfollowingbeachrules@gmail.com. The more people willing to share their concerns, the better, and we can help match you with reporters that are interested.
Please share the News-Journal story if you’re able: One petition says many people aren't following the rules in Ormond Beach. Supporters of the dog-friendly beach tell a different story.

Lastly, we know the County is downplaying this issue by saying: “There haven’t been many complaints coming in, so there must not be much of a problem.” It’s time to really let them know what we are seeing and hearing each day….so please call their reporting number each time you see an owner not doing the right thing, or a dog outside of the zone at 386-676-4160. Take a note of who you spoke with and the time and day you called. All of those calls will really help and please continue to share pictures with us at the Gmail address above or write us there and we can send you a cell number if sharing them by text is easier.
The work so far is paying off, the petition is growing each week, and we will provide another update soon on next steps and where we plan to go from here and how we will build on all of this momentum - thank you!
