END the Breeding of Genetically Modified Dogs in Canada

END the Breeding of Genetically Modified Dogs in Canada
The Issue
I am a dog owner, and I know firsthand how heart-wrenching it is to watch your beloved pet suffer. The cost of veterinary care can be astronomical, but no price is too high when it comes to saving a life that means so much.
However, there are those who deliberately breed dogs with genetic mutations that lead to severe health complications.
**THIS IS A PRESSING ISSUE GROWING IN CANADA.** This practice is not only cruel but also places an unnecessary financial burden on unsuspecting owners. Purposely breeding the dogs that have the worst and most painful deformities together to get even more deformed, damaged dogs. **Not limited to, but particularly the bully breed**
Genetic disorders in dogs can range from mild conditions to severe illnesses that significantly impact their quality of life. ‼️ These breeders prioritize financial gain over animal welfare, selling dogs for exorbitant prices and leaving owners to bear the escalating costs of medical care.
These breeders have 1 benefit out of this: Financial gain!
- They’ll sell their dogs to you for 10-20k+ and result in you spending an additional 2x,3x, 4x the amount down the road for medical.
WAKE UP to the reality of this exploitative industry. Selfish breeders are profiting at the expense of animal suffering, raking in substantial incomes(60k-120k+) while causing heartbreak for buyers and cruelty to canines!
Breeding dogs with known genetic mutations for profit is not only unethical but also perpetuates the cycle of animal cruelty.‼️
- According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), some breeds are predisposed to certain genetic conditions such as hip dysplasia, heart diseases, and various types of cancer due to irresponsible breeding practices.
P.S: Unfortunately laws around breeding are so lenient, you do NOT need a license to breed canines in Canada. That is crippling and scary! We NEED to put regulations in place ASAP‼️ The lack of laws are contributing to the practices of genetically modified dogs AND puppy mills, BYB horrors + overpopulation of canines in SHELTERS.‼️

COUNTRIES WHO HAVE ALREADY BANNED FASHION BREEDING + BANNED IMPORT AND REQUIRE LICENSE TO BREED:
- Australia
- Netherlands
- United Kingdom
- governments have passed legislation to enhance the welfare of dogs and reduce the prevalence of genetic disorders caused by unethical breeding. This includes measures such as forbidding the importation of dogs with extreme physical traits, promoting responsible ownership through education campaigns, and taking strict actions against illegal puppy farms and backyard breeding operations.
The effects of unethical dog breeding in Canada are wide-ranging, affecting dog health, welfare, and communities. Issues include genetic disorders, ethical concerns, and demand immediate action. Raising awareness, promoting responsible breeding, and endorsing ethical sources for canines can help create a future where dogs are bred and cared for with compassion and respect.
