The Issue

I've been a fan of both BTS and Stray Kids for years now, and it's been an incredible journey seeing them grow from talented new artists to global superstars. The passion, dedication, and innovation they bring to their music has touched millions of lives around the world, including my own. However, the constant snub and boycott of these artists by the Grammy Awards has been disheartening, not just for me, but for all of their fans.

BTS and Stray Kids have achieved unprecedented international success. BTS has shattered records, from being the first Korean group to top Billboard charts to selling out arenas worldwide, while Stray Kids has been earning praise for their unique sound and groundbreaking performances. Yet, year after year, these achievements seem to be overlooked by the Recording Academy, creating a perception of bias and exclusion.

According to Billboard, BTS's album "BE" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and their singles have consistently topped the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, Stray Kids have been celebrated by major music publications for their innovative concepts and musical style. These accolades prove their impact and relevance globally, yet they are repeatedly overlooked for major Grammy nominations and performances.

The Grammy Awards claim to celebrate musical excellence without discrimination, yet the repeated exclusions of BTS and Stray Kids contradict this fundamental principle. The reluctance to recognize these artists seems not just unjust but harmful to the integrity of the awards themselves. Fans worldwide have noticed this pattern, spurring movements calling for a fair representation of diverse musical talents.

We’re not asking for handouts but recognition where it's rightfully due. The influence of music transcends cultures and languages, and these artists deserve a platform at the 65th Grammy Awards to showcase their brilliance to a broader audience. By doing so, the Grammy Awards would not only honor these talented individuals but also embrace the global diversity and evolution of the music industry.

Join me in urging the Recording Academy to stop boycotting BTS and Stray Kids, allowing them to participate fully in the next year's 65th Grammy Awards. Together, we can help pave a path towards inclusivity and diversity within the prestigious music awards system. Sign this petition to show that music has no borders and to give these artists the recognition they've earned.
