End street gang violence by banning street rap

The Issue

Street rap is more violent, grimy, and offensive than ever before. Drill rap songs (a subgenre of rap music) are responsible for the increase in violence we are witnessing within our city streets.

By now, we should have a clear understanding of what's fueling crime, drug trafficking, and drug abuse in our neighborhoods, causing nationwide concerns.

Artists have been allowed to release and capitalize off lyrics by using their bars as the brush to paint an image to the world. Realeasing albums upon albums how a hostile and reckless form of lifestyle contributes to respect and ultimately fame. All while pleading to jury's that it's  "a form of expression of art".

Violence is not a form of expression of art. The only imagery obscene rappers are creating is one of pure disgust to the welfare of humanity, society, and progression.

Rapers should not get a pass because they're of color or famous status. By now, they should have a clear understanding of the gravely impact their lyrics are causing to the lives of their young fans.

The most respected scholars and professional organizations like the American Phycological Associations inarguably understands and have  neuroscience proof that music has an effect on the way people think, behave, and act.

Study shows that males who listen to obscene rap music are viewed to have more violent tendencies than those who don't. Including being disrespectful and aggresive towards women in general. Infact,  Emory University in Georgia  conducted a study that shows that teens between 14-18  who listend to rap music for roughly around 14 hours a week were three times more likely to get in a fight with a teacher, 2.5 more likely to find themselves getting arrested and 1.5 more likely to take part in illegal activities such as underage drinking and experimentation with drugs.

Music influencing illegal activities and acts of terrorism does not protect constitutional protection. With that being said, the popular culture of rap is responsible for the widespread of violence that is becoming a bigger issue day by day in the United States.

We must protect Black lives, our youth, and communities. Let's make the effort to propel our race productively by banning obscene music so we can enjoy our neighborhoods, local businesses and city malls like we use to not even 50 years ago when violence did not sell. Let's help as one Nation under God.
