The Issue

I am deeply moved to initiate this petition due to my strong belief that animals are not mere toys, but sentient beings deserving of fair treatment and protection from extinction. The practice of shark finning and overfishing is a pressing issue that threatens the balance of our marine ecosystems. Each year, an estimated 100 million sharks are killed globally for their fins, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). This unsustainable practice not only endangers these magnificent creatures but also disrupts the delicate balance of our oceans.

Overfishing is another grave concern. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization reports that about 90% of the world's fisheries are fully exploited or facing collapse. This reckless exploitation jeopardizes not only the species themselves but also those who rely on them for their livelihoods and sustenance.

We must act now to protect these vital species from extinction, maintain biodiversity in our oceans, and ensure a sustainable future for all life on Earth. It's time we put an end to shark finning and overfishing practices worldwide.

Please sign this petition today; let us stand together in defense of our oceans' inhabitants before it's too late.
