End Protective Treatment for Convicted Pedophiles and Child Killers in Prison

The Issue

Through a personal ordeal that has echoed through our life, we've looked into the mirror of a justice system which seems to favor inhumane criminals over their innocent victims. We find it unacceptable that child predators and murderers are afforded a layer of protection in our prisons, while their victims are left to cope with their past traumas in the real world.

These perpetrators, whose crimes drive a dagger through the fabric of society, are housed in protective wings within our prisons. They are shielded from the sordid reality of prison life that other criminals face. Their offenses, ignominiously, being some of the most egregious crimes, are far profound and devastating than other offenses committed within the confined walls. Still, they are offered protection — an astoundingly unjust policy that belittles the very essence of justice.

According to a 2019 report by the World Health Organization, one in every five women and one in every thirteen men disclose experiencing sexual abuse as children. The impact these despicable crimes have on the young lives cannot be overstated. We believe that their perpetrators should face the full stringency of justice, without any unjust protective privileges.

We are calling for a revision in policy that ensures equal treatment of all criminals in our prison system, regardless of their crime. Safekeeping measures for child predators and murderers need to be expunged, as a symbol of our collective commitment towards justice and a society that condemns such detestable crimes.

Please sign this petition as a testament to your support in ensuring that justice is upheld upon these repugnant criminals.
