End Police Brutality Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Victims

End Police Brutality Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Victims

The Issue

This petition originates from a deeply personal experience. In an unfortunate turn of events, VanBuren Public Schools failed to take appropriate actions and failed to ensure the security and well-being of its members, not once contacting child or adult protective services. This is a scenario that echoes similar stories across the nation, where the systems meant to protect us, often fail us. In point of fact, the brutalization of sexual assault and domestic violence victims by the police adds insult to injury in such cases. The National Crime Victimization Survey reported in 2018 that 77% of sexual assaults went unreported to the police. In these conditions, one can only imagine the countless victims who suffer in silence.

It's essential to initiate a change now. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed or the negligence shown by our institutions. We urge the police to be trained comprehensively in handling sensitive cases with empathy. The time has come for us to stand up against police inhumanity towards vulnerable individuals and ensure people in authority are held accountable for their actions. Your signature will help in amplifying the voices of unheard victims who are suffering at the hands of these systemic failures. It's high time we demand the implementation of measures that provide safety, empathy, and justice for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Please, lend your voice and sign this petition today.

Brenda SmithPetition StarterI have been mentally, emotional, and verbally abused. The police and doctors did not care. The schools also do not care. They keep abusing their children.
