Hello all 67,655 of you amazing people!!!! For the first time EVERR we finally met with Procter and Gamble today!! We joined KICKASS shadow Minister Paula Sherriff MP, P&G and donation charity ‘In Kind Direct’ to discuss the Homeless Period campaign and how we can help homeless women access sanitary products. Period. We found out that P&G donate TENS OF THOUSANDS of sanitary products every year to distribution charity ‘In Kind Direct’! YAY! Homeless shelters and charities can then order these tampons and sanitary pads from ‘In Kind Direct’, and use them to help end period poverty. However, there’s a problem. Firstly, not enough charities know they can order sanitary products from In Kind Direct. So, we are setting up a roundtable event in March/April with Paula Sherriff MP to help hook In Kind Direct up with a variety of charities and organisations that support homeless women. Secondly (and more generally) we need to change people’s perception of homelessness and donations. Like, now! We need to raise awareness of the fact that sanitary products need to be donated to food banks and local homeless shelters to support homeless women. Without this, the health of vulnerable families will be in jeopardy. Let us know your thoughts on how we could do this in the comments below! Have a lovely week! Laura :)
