Mass Incarceration of primarily Black children, including adult males has destabilized the family structure, enormously, with women struggling to raise their children, and especially the Black males who urgently need their fathers, men that represent the voice of authority.  The problem has contributed unimaginably to the crime in, for example, Chicago.  We have gun shootings and killings perpetrated so often by angry and self-hating Black boys and young men as well as Latinx youth at unarmed and thus defenseless people.  The resolution to much of the mayhem in the streets is to get the Black men into their homes, thus handling the responsibility that the prisons have deprived them of.  Again, boys need that firm, no-nonsense voice, that look of authority that says:  Do Not Try It!  Ending mass incarceration will begin to restore the Black families that have experienced almost total annihilation.
