End Mandatory Online Study for In-Person Nursing Students

End Mandatory Online Study for In-Person Nursing Students
The issue
Studying for a nursing degree in TAFE QUEENSLAND, Southport, QLD has been a dream of mine. Hands-on experience, face-to-face learning, and direct interaction with skilled professionals are vital in this journey. However, being forced into online studies is hindering my ability to learn effectively. Like many others in my course, I chose in-person study specifically because it offers the comprehensive, practical education necessary for a future in nursing—a profession that demands more than theory.
Online learning platforms were developed as a response to global challenges, providing flexibility and access to education when in-person learning wasn't possible. While these platforms serve many well, they don't accommodate everyone. For nursing students in Southport who opted for traditional study modes, the shift to mandatory online components creates barriers. It removes the tactile, immersive experiences critical for mastering nursing skills.
Statistics show that nursing students who engage in face-to-face learning perform better in practical assessments, providing safer, more competent healthcare services. The stress and disconnection caused by unnecessary online components can negatively impact mental health and learning outcomes.
Let us not compromise the quality of our foundational education. Instead, provide choice in our mode of study. Permit those of us who have selected in-person learning to do so in its entirety, and reserve the online options for those opting or needing that mode of education.
Please support our cause to offer nursing students in Southport the full in-person learning experience we signed up for by signing this petition.
