That's right, the time is NOW! This fight has been under way for 14 months, it's time to put this issue to rest. Please help me with one last push.
The Texas House Public Education Committee will be hearing testimony on HB 2159 on Thursday, April 28th, at 8:00 AM. This is not the original school lunch law that I was seeking to amend but a new bill that provides Texas children similar protection, I support it 100%
Here is the notice of the public hearing - http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/85R/schedules/html/C4002017042708001.htm
Notice that this is called a “public” hearing, so if you are in the area and would like to share your thoughts regarding this bill then clear your calendar and plan to attend. More personal testimony might just tip the scales in favor of this bill.
If you hate the idea of Texas school children being shamed in the school cafeteria then please do two more things for the sake of this bill, call and/or email the Texas House Public Education Committee as soon as possible and share this message while encouraging others to do the same. Texas kids deserve better, let’s let the legislators know how we feel.
You can email/message the chair of the Texas House Public Education Committee, Rep. Dan Huberty, right here -

Let him know that you support HB 2159 and that you want to end the lunch shaming of children in Texas schools.
The entire Texas House Public Education Committee can be seen here - http://www.house.state.tx.us/committees/committee/?committee=C400
The meeting is Thursday, which is unfortunately a school day, I will TRY to get the day off but there are no guarantees. I have a lot to do as we approach STAAR standardized tests and work to meet various end of school year deadlines.
Thanks for your support thus far, let's work together to help make HB 2159 become law. Let's end lunch shaming in Texas.
