Ms. Stephanie Covington Armstrong, who describes herself as a writer, mother, speaker, and Eating Disorder Activist, provides an excellent, first-hand account of what it is like to grow up poor and hungry. We don't get to choose our parents, nor do we have the luxury of deciding their socioeconomic status; any one of us could have been born into the worst of the worst families, with home lives so horrible that going hungry should be the LEAST of our worries. No matter how bad off we were in such a situation, being hungry would only compound our problems. If you haven't signed this petition yet, please consider reading it and signing.
